Police are forensically examining a Stalybridge car park following the possible discovery of human remains.

It’s understood contractors found a ‘skull and shoulder blade’ which appear to be human, beneath the car park. The land was previously owned by Tameside Council, until it was sold to Aldi supermarket, and is believed to be a former burial ground for an old chapel.

Human Remains Found in Car Park

Tests are taking place to determine whether the bones found are human.

If they are, they will investigate to determine if they are from the old burial ground or if they were buried in the car park more recently.
